Homeless Prevention Fund Scheme (HPF)
The Homeless Prevention Fund Scheme is run by the council’s Homelessness Prevention Team (part of Housing Advice) to help households who are threatened with homelessness secure a home in the private rented sector by paying the deposit and/or agency fees.
Who can use the scheme?
The scheme is only available to those households who have a local connection to the Stroud district and do not have the financial means to pay for the deposit or agency fees themselves.
Criteria
We can only pay for the deposit and/or agency fees if the landlord is willing to use our scheme and offer a minimum 12 month tenancy. The rent must fall within the following limits to make sure you can afford the property in the long term. The limits are based on current Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates (the maximum amount of housing benefit that would be paid depending on income).
You would need to find a property within the following rent limits otherwise we cannot pay for the deposit or fees:
Property size |
Rent limit for scheme |
Room in a house or studio flat |
£400pcm |
1 bed |
£500pcm |
2 bed |
£650pcm |
3 bed |
£800pcm |
4 bed |
£1000pcm |
If you are a shared room or one bed need, and in full time employment, this may alter the rent limit.
