Community Wardens

The Community Wardens work across the Stroud District by providing a highly visible presence, whilst acting as the eyes and ears of the community. The Wardens create a safer, cleaner and greener district by engaging within the local parishes and actively responding to community issues.

Our Wardens can help and support you with the following issues:

  • Supporting vulnerable people
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Abandoned and untaxed vehicles
  • Bogus and cold callers
  • Free home security and crime prevention advice
  • Hate crime and bullying
  • Litter
  • Dog fouling
  • Fly-tipping
  • Fly-posting
  • Graffiti
  • Supporting residents and partner agencies
  • Personal safety talks
  • Installing and maintaining Careline equipment
  • And much more...

The Wardens work within the Stroud Community Safety Partnership, providing intelligence work on behalf of Stroud District Council as outlined in the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act.

The Wardens carry out Environmental Protection duties including the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices, which is part of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

The Wardens are a vital component in the Council's responsibility under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. They work with the Emergency Services in times of crisis and environmental disasters.

On top of this, the Wardens are all trained in First Aid, they carry defibrillators in their vehicles, which allows them to be more resourceful in an emergency.
